Dorea M. Hardy, Ed.D., is an educator, senior instructional designer, and higher education leader with more than 20 years of experience in instructional technology, distance learning, web development, faculty support, and academic administration.
Dr. Hardy earned an Ed.D. in Adult and Career Education and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Valdosta State University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Political Science from Indiana University Northwest and a B.S. in Political Science from Berry College.
She currently serves as an Instructional Designer III (Senior Instructional Designer) in the Office of Distance Learning at Albany State University, where she leads instructional design initiatives, mentors instructional design staff, supports faculty, and advances the quality and accessibility of online and technology-enhanced learning. She also teaches American Government as a part-time instructor.
Her professional interests include artificial intelligence in education, accessible and inclusive course design, faculty development, online-learning quality, open educational resources, and emerging instructional technologies. Her experience within the University System of Georgia has included leadership and service in Information Technology Services, Distance Learning, Continuing and Professional Education, the USG eCampus Collaborative, and the Georgia Film Academy.
Dr. Hardy remains actively engaged in the broader education community through professional associations, conference presentations, publications, peer-review service, and university and community leadership.
